Saturday April 7th 2007 The Strawbery Beats won the Golden Apple Award 2007 during the 28th International Beatlesconvention in Musichall De Kom in Nieuwegein.

They were one of five acts that went on stage to perform a version of a Beatlessong. The acts were judged by a professional jury consisting of top musicians Klaus Voormann and Rob Bolland, TV-sidekick (De Wereld Draait Door) and Beatles-expert Leo Blokhuis and jurychairman Machgiel Bakker (manager Beeld & Geluid). The Strawberry Beats brought a version of the Beatlessong “Hey Bulldog”. Although there was no opportunity to soundcheck, the act sounded solid as a rock. Apart from The Strawberry Beats the jury was also impressed by the performance of the Amsterdam Brass Quintet. Therefore the jury decided to let that band win as well, with the instruction to both bands to try out playing numbers together, to be performed next year during the 29th International Beatlesconvention.
